Ladies That Lunch

Good afternoon!

It is a hot one again today!  I went with my mom to visit my grandma in her nursing home.  We had a good visit and left in time to go grab some lunch at a local market.  Lunch was YUMMY!  We also had dessert-my mom had pecan pie and I had peach pie.  Oh my, so good!

So, again today, I tried to find stuff that would be as light as possible since the temps are over one hundred degrees!  Black may not have been the best option, but the cotton is light weight and airy!

Dress, belt, and sandals: ALL TARGET!

Heat Wave

Wowza.  It is HOT outside.  Last night I went with some of my best girlfriends to the Botanical Gardens for their weekly jazz concert.  We had a great time together, although it was pretty toasty then, too.  Here we all are at the end of the night:

Here is a look at my outfit for that day.  I tried to find things that were light colored so as not to absorb light and heat.  I had to remove the cardigan.  Too hot when it is over ninety degrees!

I pretty much stayed indoors today so that I didn't get heat stroke.  I did rent The Artist and I have to say I really enjoyed it.  I wasn't sure if I was going to like a silent film, but other than not knowing what was going on when I had to run the dog out or take a potty break, I didn't miss the speaking!

Hip, hip, hippie!

I'm feeling very bohemian today.  I decided to give the maxi skirt a try today.  This is actually a maxi dress that I layered with a white t-shirt.  I really like this casual look because I didn't have to wear a strapless bra to wear the dress!  I'd like to layer another type of shirt with this dress, but I struggle with what to pair it with.  Maybe something else in the future!

Meanwhile, I bought a new scarf today...next up in the bohemian category: a mini turban!  Be on the lookout!

PS-Trying some new poses.  So awkward!

PPS-Look who I got to hang out with today-my buddy Max!  Love, love, love him!  We had a great time at lunch...and oh yeah, his mom Aimee came too!

Mix and Match

So, I'm really trying to work on mixing prints and patterns.  Getting out of my matchy match comfort zone.  Today is probably one of my favorite outfits that incorporates this trend.  Stripes and florals.  You got it!  Plus, I've got a huge thing for stripes...just can't get enough!

Shirt: Loft
Skirt: Old Navy
Sandals: Target
Necklace: Franchesca's Collections

Not much going on in this household today.  Finished season 2 of Downton Abbey and now I'm having withdrawls...what will become of Matthew and Mary.. and Bates and Anna?  And I sure hope Sybil comes back.  I think she's my favorite character!  I can't believe I have to wait until January to find out!

Skirting the Issue

Sorry I skipped posting yesterday.  Let's just say that I had on loungewear the entire day until it was time for dinner with my friend, Sara.  We just headed out to a local Mexican joint-so yummy!

This was my outfit from the other day, Wednesday to be exact.  I ran some errands-including hitting the grocery store, Old Navy, and Books-a-Million.  It was pretty hot outside but luckily this shirt is very light weight.  I wanted to pair a great necklace with it, but none of the ones I had looked right.  I guess I'll just be forced to keep looking at jewelry-such a shame!

I'm only wearing a little bit of make up and decided to not curl my hair that day.  Possibly a bad decision!

Outfit stats:
Shirt: Old Navy
Skirt: Kohl's
Belt: not sure, I've had it for a long time!
Sandals: Target
Necklace: Jess LC

Alright, I'm off to continue season 2 of Downton Abbey and be lazy!  Gotta love summer!

Thoroughly Modern Ladies

Some of my co-workers and I decided to get season tickets to The Muny, a local outdoor theater, this summer. We saw our first show of the season last night, Thoroughly Modern Millie. None of us really knew anything about it, but I think we all agreed we liked it! The dancing and costumes were awesome! Plus, we had great company! Can't wait to see Chicago next week!

Wedding Bells

Wow! This has been a whirlwind but my brother's wedding has finally come and passed. It was incredible and the best wedding I've ever been to-although I may be pretty biased! The bride was beautiful, the groom happy, the wedding sweet, and the reception hopping! Unfortunately, I was so busy living in the moment that I didn't really get pictures but here are just a few that I managed to squeeze in:
We helped add bows to the yummy chocolates that the guests took home.

Family rehearsal for the wedding!

My parents and brother heading out to the rehearsal dinner!  Don't they look wonderful?

We decided to do a group shot while waiting for the elevator! Haha!

With my new sister-in-law!  She was absolutely gorgeous!

Cutting the cake!  They were so happy!

Mother/Son and Father/Daughter dance

Managed to get out and walk around for a little while-this is Rittenhouse Square

Heading out to dinner Sunday night-we ate at La Viola-so good!

Travelin'

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I've been in preparation mode and my outfits have been quite lacking lately. I'm hoping to share some things going on in the next several days so look for a quick post or two!

PS-How am I just now watching Downton Abbey?! I bought the first season a while ago (when Borders was going out of business) and just now started watching it (probably because I was trapped in a car for 10 hours!). Love, love, love it!

The Runaround

Hey, hey!   Lots going on here...getting ready for a big wedding!  Yesterday I went for what I thought would be just picking up my bridesmaid dress.  Well, you know what happens when you assume...  Turns out the dress was not at all ready for me to wear.  It was still pretty huge up top and so they have to go back and do more alterations.  And I pick up my dress Monday afternoon.  There will be no more time for alterations so I am praying that they get it right this time!!
Here's what I wore yesterday:
My entire outfit was from TARGET!  I guess that is no big surprise, huh?

And today was spent running over to my school to pick up some stuff for a meeting tomorrow.  They just can't let me have an entire summer off!
Here's what I'm currently wearing:
Shirt and Jeans: Gap
Belt and Sandals: Target
Necklaces: Jess LC and gift from a friend

Old Lady

Today is Sunday which means church day!  I decided to dress up a little for church today so I could wear my new lace shirt.  Probably sounds old lady-ish, huh?  Ever since I saw a lace shirt on another style blog, I knew I had to have one.  I love the look of lace right now anyway, so this was right up my alley!  So, just call me an old lady.

50 Shades of Blue and Green

Spoiler Alert: This post has nothing to do with 50 Shades of Grey.  I just borrowed the title for my post.  Sorry, I haven't read any of the series.

Today was another busy day.  You getting sick of me saying that yet?  It's a feast or famine around here as far as what I have going on.

After my early morning Zumba workout, my mom and I headed over to the hospital where we spent some time visiting with my cousin.  Then we headed to a nearby mall to get our shop on!  My mom was looking for a couple of specific things and I did a lot of window shopping.  If only I had a disposable income- I'd be the best dressed librarian!

The highlight of my shopping adventure was getting two compliments on my outfit and one more about my new necklace.  Yes, I couldn't resist this necklace when I saw it at Franchesca's!  Love the color blocking with the blue and turquoise. And the stripes.

Today:
Shirt: Loft
Pants: Lauren Conrad for Kohl's
Shoes: Toms
Necklace: Franchesca's Collections

Notice I have two different shoes on?  Yep, couldn't decide at first.  Went with the flats.

Still two different shoes.  You'd think I would have remembered this when I was taking the pictures.  Oops!

Normally I would not allow a pic of my backside on this blog, but I love the button details on the back of this boatneck shirt!

Babies

Good evening!

Today was a whirlwind of visiting!  I went to visit one friend this morning-Sarah and her adorable little Caroline- and then headed over to meet up with Ashley and Julie (and baby Kailee) for lunch!  Such cute little girls!  Caroline kept giggling and was just crawling all over the place and I secured my Baby Whisperer standing and put Kailee to sleep after lunch.  Thanks for hanging out with me today ladies!!

Of course, I was near a mall so I stopped by after lunch.  Just couldn't resist.  I found some good things-including a necklace I've been looking for all over the place!

Here is what I wore today:
Sweater: Target
Shirt: Jason Wu for Target
Pants: Gap
Flats: Missoni for Target
Necklace: NY & Co.
